Creating a Video
Biography is both simple and fun.
1. Initial Interview
I will come to your home and ask you a few questions about the person
or situation you would like to have made into a biography or
documentary. This will help me to guide you regarding the necessary
materials and time that will be involved in production. I will give you
some questionnaires to help you think about stories you'll want to tell.
I will also leave behind copies of the formal documents (interview
permission, package agreement, receipt of photographs, etc.) for you to
look over. This meeting
takes about an hour. Afterwards, we will schedule our Sorting
Session.
2. Initial Interview

You'll have
gathered the photographs and other materials we'll need for your
interview. I'll set up the camera, sound and lighting equipment, then we
will discuss what you would like to accomplish, then begin the
interview!
Regarding the Interviews
You've probably
noticed in most television biographies or documentaries that live
interviews intersperse the narration. In your DVD biography, this will
also be the case. After we look through the pictures and discuss the
project, we can determine who should be interviewed and the stories we
would like to hear. The interviews themselves are not very long. A
single person interview won't last more than an hour, multiple
interviews run about 20-30 minutes each. You'll be surprised at how fast that
time goes!
3.
Supporting photos, video and documents

After we have
your interview "in the
can," we can sort through the photos,
documents and videos that best support
your story.
4. Composition
All the raw
material is now in hand! I'll take the photographs and video back to my
workshop and begin composing it into a DVD. Appropriate special effects,
sound and music will be added to enhance the presentation before burning
a final product. Custom DVD laser etched disk labels and colorful
storage cases will be created to add
visual quality and personalize your DVD Biography.
5. Enjoy the show!
I think you'll
not only be delighted with the final product; you'll find that others
will be interested in copies, as well. These stories really do make
wonderful gifts and keepsakes that can be enjoyed for years to come. |
